Question
Please tell us about the angels who are appointed to record a person’s deeds during his life. When the person dies, do the two angels who were appointed to watch him also die, or where do they end up after the person dies?
Answer
Praise be to Allah.
The condition and affairs of the angels are matters of the unseen, which cannot be known except through the religious texts [the Qur’an and Sunnah]. There is no text which suggests that the angelic scribes who record good deeds and bad deeds die when the one whose good deeds and bad deeds they were appointed to record dies. And there is no text to suggest that they continue to live, or where they end up. That is up to Allah. What has been asked about is not something that we are enjoined to believe, and no good deeds are connected to knowing that. So asking about that comes under the heading of asking about that which does not concern one. Hence we advise the questioner not to look into that which does not concern him, and to put his effort into asking about that which will benefit him and the Muslims in both their religious and wealthy affairs.
And Allah is the source of strength. May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions. End quote.
